Sun Lik Beer has launched a new-look bottle and website to make the most of Chinese New Year.

Bottles are now available in brown glass, rather than green, and the packaging for the 24x33cl case has been revamped, featuring a golden dragon on a background of black, red and white.

Sun Lik brand manager Oliver Scott said: “The brown glass means the gold label appears stronger, achieving much greater impact and standing out more from the supermarket shelf or in bars.

“In a sense, we are going back to our roots as the brown bottle mirrors the Original Hong Kong San Miguel Pale Pilsen stein bottle used in Hong Kong and the beer’s birthplace in the Philippines.”

Sun Lik's website has also benefited from a new look and now features a guide to dim sum and other regional cuisines as well as news about its powerboat racing teams.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
