Last chance for independent retailers to secure a place on a buying trip to Rioja

10 March, 2010

Independent retailers have until this Friday (March 12) to register their interest in attending a buying trip to Rioja as part of a major Off Licence News promotion with Wines of Rioja.

As part of a drive to help retailers capitalise on sales of the region’s wines, we’ll be inviting readers to run a promotional weekend in store during October where the retailer showing the most flare will win £1,000 towards their first shipment of wine from Rioja.

Ahead of the promotion, details of which will appear in the magazine and online in August, we are offering 20 independents the chance to visit Rioja on a three-day trip. Taking place from April 19 to 21, the educational buying trip programme will combine seminars with bodega visits and tastings.

Agreeing to disagree

Disagreeing about wine is a fact of wine-trade life, like drugs in sport or corruption in politics. Because taste is entirely subjective, debates about our personal preferences are as inevitable as they are interminable. Indeed, these long-winded, wine-fuelled arguments are precisely what make our jobs so much fun.
