Oddbins joins British Retail Consortium to further lobbying efforts

Oddbins has signed up to the British Retail Consortium to strengthen its pre-election lobbying on issues around drinks retailing.

Stephen Robertson, British Retail Consortium director general, said: “With the political and economic uncertainty associated with the looming general election, it’s great to add another voice to the BRC’s lobbying expertise.

“Alcohol is a major issue for all political parties. Oddbins’ membership will boost BRC campaigning to ensure a measured approach to alcohol laws in Westminster, Edinburgh and Brussels. We’re also working hard to ensure the business environment retailers work in is not overly burdensome, allowing them to continue maintaining and creating jobs.”

Simon Baile, Oddbins chief executive, said: “We’ve joined the BRC for its impressive record on fighting on behalf of retailing and influencing key-decision makers to ensure legislation is introduced in a way that helps retailers thrive. I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”.
