Welsh indie expands with fourth shop

06 April, 2010

Independent retailer Dylans Wine Merchants has bought a former Thresher store in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire.

The acquistion brings the number of stores under the Dylans Wine Merchants name to four.

The first shop opened in Swansea in 2001, the second in Llanelli in Carmarthenshire last May and the third in Gorseinon, Swansea a month later.

Director Steve Ashborn said: “We are particularly excited about Llandeilo as we have been experiencing some difficult trading times over the past 18 months due to the recession and aggressive competition from the large multiples.

"We are however now showing positive signs of recovery and are confident our new addition with its high wine and premium product mix will put us back on track to develop and move forward for further expansion.”

Dylans stocks a range “of the highest quality wines from the everyday to the discerning wine drinker” which aren’t available in the supermarkets or multiple specialists, according to Ashborn.

“From the outset our goals would be to bring our customers the ultimate wine buying experience, with customer service being our highest priority,” he added.
