Global Brands acquires Inspirit Brands

Global Brands has acquired premium drinks company Inspirit Brands.

The deal strengthens Global’s spirits portfolio with the addition of Four Roses bourbon, El Dorado rum, Ocho tequila, No.3 London Dry gin, St Germain liqueur and Opal Nera sambuca.

Global's managing director Derek Mackey said: “We want to become the UK’s leading drinks brand development business, which we will achieve through innovation and acquisition in all drinks categories.”

James Shelbourne, managing director of Inspirit Brands, added: "We're confident that our portfolio of premium brands, coupled with Global Brands' existing product range and expertise, will make for a winning combination."

Global manages a range of brands across the wine, spirits, RTD and soft drink categories, including Corky's cream liqueur, Sobieski vodka, Myer's rum, Kick Energy and Adoro Wine from South Africa.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
