A former head of wine buying at First Quench has been named sales director of González Byass UK.

Melissa Draycott joined the sherry-led business in December in a sales consultancy role.

She was head of wine buying at First Quench from February 2009 until the company’s collapse in October.

Prior to that she was a senior wine buyer with Sainsbury’s.

Draycott said: “This new role is a great challenge and one which I will relish. The company is highly respected and successful, with a clear direction.”?Martin Skelton, managing director of González Byass UK, said: “Melissa has a wealth of experience and joins us at an exciting time for our business, as we expand both our Spanish wine portfolio and add agency business, such as Jackson Estate and Quinta do Noval.”
