Heineken in possible Sol dealHeineken shareholders have backed a resolution for the company to buy the Mexican brewer which owns the Sol and Dos Equis brands, for around E3.8 billion. The deal is expected to be completed within the next two months. Sol and Dos Equis are both currently distributed by Molson Coors in the UK.

Corks Out sell charity fizzManchester United striker Michael Owen joined Ruth Yates, owner of Cheshire independent Corks Out, to sign magnums of Champagne to raise money for the Claire House children’s hospice on the Wirral. Fizz was donated by Laurent-Perrier, Louis Roederer and Bollinger. Corks Out was Neighbourhood Off-licence of the Year in the 2010 OLN Drinks Retailing Awards, with charity work playing a key part in the honour.

Cider offers at WaitroseWaitrose is holding a Cider Showcase promotion between May 12 and June 8, with 25% off the price of around 50 cider product lines. The promotion includes leading brands such as Magners and Strongbow, alongside niche products from Aspall, Westons and Thatchers.

Stoli sponsors air race champStolichnaya vodka is sponsoring British air race champion Paul Bonhomme in the 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Stolichnaya branding will appear on Bonhomme’s aircraft and pilot’s uniform, as well as on floating barges below the track.

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”.
