Lighter touch for Intercontinental

14 May, 2010

Intercontinental Brands has expanded its light spirits range with the launch of a product with a US whiskey feel.

Black Star is a blend of “premium fermented alcohol and spirit, mixed with smokey Bourbon flavours”, with an abv of 22%.

The launch is the latest in a series for the company, following the success of its Vodkat schnapps, the focus of a high-profile passing-off legal action.

Black Star is aimed at 18-35 year olds, said ICB managing director John Mills. “This audience really likes that it can choose a drink that offers all the taste but has a much lighter abv.”
