Kay returns to fold for John Smith’s

Comedian Peter Kay has reprised his role as John Smith’s ad star for the first time in five years.

As reported in OLN last month, Kay, star of the ad campaign from 2002 to 2005, is featuring in the new ads, which will air nationally for six weeks.

Gareth Turner, senior brand manager at Heineken UK, brand owner of John Smith’s, said: “We reckon Peter’s return has come just at the right time. Four weeks of political campaigning is bound to have taken its toll on the public – they’re in need of some no nonsense and a decent dose of light relief.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
