PLB strikes Ochoa and Merino deal

PLB has signed Spanish producers Bodegas Ochoa and Miguel Merino for distribution to independents and the on-trade.

PLB’s European buying director Nick Tatham MW said: “Miguel Merino is a highly regarded boutique producer of excellent Rioja, while Bodegas Ochoa has been instrumental in increasing the awareness and appreciation of Navarra.”?The Ochoa family built its current cellar in 1845 and Miguel Merino, who has worked at Bodegas Ochoa since 1985, established his eponymous winery in 1993.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
