Gaymer taps into fruit

Gaymer is hoping to tap into the “huge growth potential of the fruit cider category” with its latest launch.

Gaymers Pear Cider with Berry Fruits is made with the juice of strawberries, blackberries and blackcurrants and will be available this month.

Peter Spencer, managing director, said: “We think fruit could be one of the biggest areas for growth in 2010.

“Our research shows Gaymers’ consumers are more likely than most to buy fruit ciders.” Meanwhile, Kopparberg is planning on launching Strawberry & Lime pear cider in the summer.

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
