Fake Bollinger sold to independents

19 March, 2010

Trading Standards officers in London are investigating incidents of fake Bollinger Champagne being sold in London.

Mentzendorff, the brand’s official UK agent, described the incidents as “isolated”. Managing director Andrew Hawes said the counterfeit fizz consisted of “poor-quality photocopies applied to stripped-down bottles of cheap sparkling wine sourced from across the Channel”.

Hawes added: “The quantity of stock involved is very small.

A few independent traders and bar owners in the London area have been duped and we feel it is right to alert the trade.”?Anyone with information about the fake fizz should contact their local Trading Standards office or speak in confidence to Chloe Craven at Mentzendorff on 020 840 3600.
