10 International adds to range

28 May, 2010

Wine agency 10 International is adding a Viura-based white and an off-dry rosé to its Rivero Rioja range.

The wines have been made at the Rivero family-owned Marqués del Atrio by Chilean winemaker Rodrigo Espinosa, formerly of Concha y Toro and Caliterra.

The wines join three red wines in the producer’s range, with a UK rrp of £6.99.

Export manager Jorge Rivero Romanos said: “The idea with the white is to make a fresher, more fruit-driven wine than Rioja normally does. It’s more in the style that New World wines have had success with in the UK.”?

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
