M&S beefs up online team

M&S has expanded its online wine buying team with the addition of Emma Dawson.

Dawson has worked in Sainsbury's BWS department for six years but is moving to its rival next week, joining Chris Murphy and other members of the Wine Direct team.

Andrew Bird, category manager for BWS at Marks & Spencer, said: “I am delighted that M&S is able to welcome a wine industry professional of the calibre of Emma to the team. With her passion for product and extensive commercial experience of the worlds of wine and digital media, Emma will be a key part of M&S's strategy to grow our wine e-commerce business over the months and years ahead.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
