Football ads for Strongbow

Heineken UK is lining up two football-related TV ads for its Strongbow cider.

The 10-second ads are part of the ongoing Hard Earned campaign for the brand and will focus on football groundsmen and floodlight installers.

Two additional non-football ads will pay homage to the window cleaners of Stoke-on-Trent and conservatory fitters in Lincoln.

Brand manager Lucy Henderson said: “We wanted to celebrate the hard work of the unsung heroes of football and the theme fits well with this summer’s World Cup, giving Strongbow a strong TV presence throughout the tournament.

“The ads, combined with outdoor posters and upweighted music festival activity will ensure that the Strongbow rewards hard graft message will be a prevalent feature of the coming summer.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
