Smokehead in Classic Rock deal

Smokehead malt has been named the official whisky sponsor of Classic Rock magazine.

The deal involves a new print advertising campaign for the Ian Macleod Distillers brand, featuring a skull overlaid with adjectives describing the whisky's flavour, in the distinctive style of its packaging.

Smokehead will have a big presence in the magazine and on Classic Rock's website, including ads and sponsorship of the letters page.

Smokehead will also be a VIP sponsor of the High Voltage festival in London in July and the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards in November.

The sponsorship agreement also includes activity in Classic Rock's sister title Prog Rock.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle ľ which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
