Oz First Families secures grant

11 June, 2010

Australia’s First Families of Wine has won a grant from the Australian government worth nearly £250,000.

The group of 12 family-run wineries was awarded AUD$429,000 thanks to its programme of tastings and masterclasses for independent retailers and consumers the week before the London wine fair.

AFFW was set up to showcase examples of varietal and regional wines from Australia.

Colin Campbell, of Campbells Wines in Rutherglen, said: “The grant came from a federal government programme promoting Australian produce. We put together the plan for the programme, costed it out and went back to the government and applied for the grant.

We were one of 30 recipients.”?
