SITT tasting now in its sixth year

This year’s Specialist Importers Trade Tasting will see the generic body for Sud de France join Chile, New Zealand, Portugal and the Wine Institute of California for the first time.

The tasting, now in its sixth year, will take place in Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on February 22 and London’s Vinopolis on February 24.

Event organiser Judy Kendrick said there would be 44 exhibitors, the same number as at 2009’s tasting. She said: “We don’t expand the numbers because we know visitors can get around in one day and see everyone they need to.”?OLN editor Rosie Davenport will be revealing our exclusive research into the independent sector and social media specialist Catavino will offer help with questions on tweeting and blogging.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
