l Antica Sambuca is bringing bar-quality cocktails to the take-home market. Brand owner Hi-Spirits has fitted its patented Pro-Pour spout to bottles across all eight varieties in the Antica range.

Intercontinental Brands’ amaretto Zamaretto is sponsoring the third series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Break-bumper ads will mean Zamaretto is advertised for 40 seconds every show.

Akvinta Vodka has teamed up with Harrods to offer customers a sensory kit containing two fig-scented candles, a massage soap and a grapefruit room spray when they buy a 70cl bottle. The kit “sets the scene to enjoy the luxurious drink and evoke Akvinta’s Mediterranean roots”.

WKD registered 12.5% volume growth in December versus the same period in 2008, according to Nielsen figures for the four weeks to December 26, 2009. The Beverage Brands-owned RTD also achieved 19% volume growth in the week immediately preceding Christmas.

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
