Walkers cashes in on World Cup

Walkers is planning to introduce country-specific crisp flavours to increase snack sales on the back of the World Cup.

Amit Mukherjee, customer business manager at Pepsico International, said its plans included a Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding flavour for England and BBQ Kangaroo for Australia.

He said the company was hoping the new flavours would be as successful as its Do Us a Flavour campaign, which saw consumers coming up with, and voting for, a range of new flavours last year.

United Biscuits has also made an attempt to cash in, with promotions on McCoy’s and KP Nuts. McCoy’s has introduced two limited-edition flavours called Chicken Winger and Sausage Striker.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
