Lamb's to back RNLI

Lambís Navy rum is running an on-pack competition giving consumers the chance to win a two-week cruise.

The promotion is to mark Lambís announcement that it will be supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution during 2010.

It will appear on around 100,000 bottles and brand owner Halewood International will be donating £1 to the charity for each of the first 25,000 competition entries it receives.

The competition prize is a 14-night cruise for two with Fred Olsen Cruises.

Senior brand manager Sue Beck said: ďThis is the first time that Lambís has supported a charity in this way.

ďThe RNLI provides a perfect fit for the brand due to Lambís longstanding synergy with the sea.Ē

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle Ė which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
