Pierhead taps into market gap with new beer styles

23 July, 2010

Pierhead is set to introduce four beers in different styles to its portfolio in a bid to tap into what it sees as niches in the market.

The importer is adding Canada’s Moosehead Pale Ale and Moosehead Light to its range, and Patagonia Blonde and Patagonia Negra from Argentina will be available at the end of August.

A spokesman said Moosehead Pale Ale was being brought on board as an answer to the “the increasing trend for pale ale in the UK”.

He added: “Patagonia is dedicated to brewing the highest quality premium beers, using only 100% natural ingredients, and still operates from the oldest brewery in Argentina.

“We will be importing the Blonde and Negra beers to fill the gap in the market for a genuinely premium Argentinian beer.”?Pierhead said it will be increasing its portfolio with “a number of new beers” in the near future, as well as taking on more sales staff and developing a new website.

The limitations of Instawines

Picture the scene. You put your key in the keyhole, shove the door with your shoulder, drop your bags and look down. There, beaming up at you, is some relative or friend’s smug postcard with sandy beaches, Piña Coladas and palm trees (or, these days, an in nity pool and a detox smoothie) with a literal or metaphorical “wish you were here” written large.
