Packaging update for Kronenbourg

23 July, 2010

Heineken UK is to update the packaging for its Kronenbourg 1664 lager brand.

The new look adopts the global design for the brand, to give it a “Gallic, edgy and more modern look”.

The relaunch forms part of a marketing push which includes a new TV and press campaign from October.

The redesign includes a tweak to the reference to an in-can widget in the lager, changing it from Dynamo Système to Draught Système.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
