Innis & Gunn goes in-house

06 August, 2010

Innis & Gunn has taken distribution of its speciality bottled beers in-house.

This was previously handled by Marston’s and – before its acquisition by the Midlands brewer – Refresh UK.

Crawford Sinclair, who worked on Innis & Gunn at both Marston’s and Refresh, will head the new sales, marketing and distribution arm as UK director of sales.

Managing director Dougal Sharp said the move would allow the company to achieve its potential by “working more closely with UK customers to deliver consumer-focused growth strategies”.

Sinclair said: “The business’ track record over the past seven years has been phenomenal. I am focused on ensuring this hard-won success continues.”

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
