Wine Australia UK head resigns

07 September, 2010

Lisa McGovern, director of Wine Australia for UK, Ireland and Europe, has resigned.

The Australian Wine & Brandy Corporation put out an announcement this morning (Tuesday September 7).

It said: “The AWBC has implemented internal changes to support the UK office and the market in Lisa’s absence to ensure transition can occur with minimal impact on the team, strategy, stakeholder interests and market activity.”

McGovern took up her post in April 2009 following a long search by the AWBC.

The generic body said John McDonnell, regional manager Ireland, will be available to support the UK office for two days a week in London until further notice and recruitment for a permanent replacement was “being conducted”.

A spokesman said: “Lisa worked tirelessly to promote and support the Australian wine industry in the UK and Europe and the AWBC wishes her all the best in the future.”
