Adnams launches bottle-conditioned beers

14 September, 2010

Adnams has launched a range of bottle-conditioned beers, based on products it launched in cask form last year.

The range includes American IPA, Belgian Abbey, German Wheat, Belgian Witbier, Irish Stout and German Kolner.

Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald said: “We did a series of cask beers starting late last year looking at different styles of beers. We tried to brew these as authentically as possible using the right barley, hops and yeast for each style.

“This time we have bottled them. The beers have been scaled back up so they are a truer reflection of what they should be in bottle and we have made several adjustments to the beers based on what we learnt from the cask experiments.”

The beers are available in Adnams Cellar & Kitchen stores and online.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
