Crabbie’s offers mulled wine and ginger

Halewood International is to extend its Crabbie’s brand this Christmas with the launch of Crabbie’s Ginger Mulled Wine.

It will be available in both the off and on-trade and Halewood said the launch was a bid to “remain at the forefront of innovation in the ginger category”, following its success with Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer.

The new product is made from a combination of “quality ruby wine, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and citrus fruits”.

It will be available in a 70cl glass bottle with an abv of 12% (rrp £4.99).

Richard Clark, head of innovation at Halewood International, said: “In the run-up to the festive season both the off and on-trades are looking for credible branded products that will offer retailers the opportunity to make significant incremental sales.”?The launch will be supported by a national above-the-line campaign, sampling and in-outlet support.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
