Bottle Green signs TV deal

Andrew Peace and French Connection wines are to hit TV screens after signing an eight month-long deal with Discovery Networks UK.

Distributor Bottle Green has struck a six-figure deal to sponsor food programming on the network’s channels, including Come Dine With Me and Cake Boss, and the wines will feature in break bumpers and on Discovery’s website.

Andrew Peace and French Connection will be exclusive sponsors of Discovery Kitchen on Discovery Real Time. They will feature on a rotating basis, and Andrew Peace will make his TV debut in break bumper ads in a bid to show customers the real face and personality behind the brand.

Bottle Green marketing director Richard Hitchcock said: “To say we’re excited about this sponsorship is an understatement. We are teaming up with one of the world’s most prestigious digital TV networks and we will have exclusivity on the sponsorship of all their superb food programming output for eight solid months.

We’re working with an award-winning channel and their production team, and it is proof of how much belief we have in the future of Andrew Peace and French Connection wines that we are prepared to take this major step. Both brands have other significant elements to this year’s marketing plan, but the tie-up with Discovery is certainly the pinnacle.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
