Molson Coors wins Corona deal

07 October, 2010

Molson Coors has been confirmed as the new UK distributor for Corona beer from next January.

The move comes after Mexican brand owner Modelo revealed earlier in the week that its current deal with Wells & Young’s was ending.

The switch will see Molson Coors UK plug a gap in its portfolio left by the departure of Sol, which officially joined the Heineken UK portfolio earlier this month.

The deal also includes other Modelo products such as Pacifico and Negra Modelo, but Corona accounts for 90% of the Mexican producer’s UK business.

Mark Hunter, chief executive officer of Molson Coors UK said: “We are committed to providing significant marketing support behind these brands for the benefit of our beer drinkers, our partner Modelo and Molson Coors UK.”

Corona joins a Molson Coors UK portfolio that includes Cobra, Singha and Grolsch.
