Finest beer and cider for Tesco

15 October, 2010

Tesco has extended its Finest premium own-label brand to beer and cider.

There are 10 products in the initial range, including wheat and abbey beers from the Huyghe Brewery in Belgium, and one each from Scottish brewers Harviestoun, Brewdog and Williams Bros.

Harviestoun is supplying a 6% abv porter, Brewdog a 9.2% abv American Double IPA and Williams Bros a 3.8% abv alcoholic ginger beer. Another Belgian brewer, Castle, has produced a kriek (cherry) beer at 3.2% abv.

Oak-matured and organic pear ciders have been produced by Westons, with Thatchers supplying a single-orchard cider and the Belgian cider firm Stassen providing a prestige product with a £3.99 price tag for a 36.5cl bottle.

Beer buyer Chiara Nesbitt said: “We have sourced top-of-the-range beers which we believe will challenge the customer and broaden their experience.

“The range has been produced with suppliers which are known for consistently producing quality.”
