Jacobís Creek signs Wimbledon deal

Jacobís Creek has signed a five-year deal to sponsor Wimbledon after Blossom Hill announced the end of its support for the tennis championship last month.

The deal makes Jacobís Creek the exclusive pouring wine at Wimbledon and the brand will advertise its status as the tournamentís official wine around the world.

Global marketing director Jo Adamo said: ďWimbledon is an international icon and offers great exposure in all of our key markets. It captures the imagination of millions and, as such, provides a wonderful opportunity to align Jacobís Creek with the hearts and minds of spectators around the world.Ē?Pernod Ricard has also announced it will sponsor TV channel Dave for six months, to coincide with the third burst of its True Character TV ads.

Eight 10-second idents will appear during peak viewing from 6pm-9pm on weekdays and noon-5pm at weekends.

Head of marketing Matthew Bird said: ďThe six-month deal will allow us to showcase multiple ranges, including Jacobís Creek Classic, new Jacobís Creek Regional Reserve and our Jacobís Creek Sparkling portfolio.Ē

Reasons to be cheerful

I would like to think my outlook on things is generally optimistic. Perhaps that’s a natural consequence of working with something designed to give pleasure. But recently it has become increasingly difficult to ignore a creeping sense of negativity pervading the British wine trade.
