New formats for Crabbie's

05 November, 2010

Halewood International has launched a new 70cl bottle and 33cl multipack for its Crabbie’s Alcoholic Beer brand exclusively for the off-trade.

A spokeswoman claimed the 70cl bottle provides consumers with a sharing size bottle packaged in a “convenient fridge-friendly screw top format”, which allows the product to be kept in the fridge.

The 33cl multipacks are available as a four pack (rrp £5) and a six or eight pack of 50cl bottles retailing at £11.94 and £15.92 respectively.

Brand manager Al Cross said: “The new pack formats allows us to reach a much wider and more diversified audience, the sharing bottle is designed to be kept in the fridge at home.

"The multipack cases allows consumers to easily cater for social occasions such as Christmas parties.”

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
