A black spiced rum from the US with a cult following is to make its debut in the UK.

Kraken is produced by the family-owned New York-based Proximo and has developed a strong fanbase in its domestic market and among top UK bartenders.

It’s now to get an official UK release – its first European export market – through Polish vodka specialist Marblehead Brand Development, which will also be handling Proximo’s Maestro Dobel tequila and Hangar One vodka.

Other products in the Proximo portfolio include Three Olives vodka and 1800 tequila.

Dave Steward, business development director at Marblehead, said: “Proximo is an exciting, innovative and genuinely pioneering company, with some outstanding brands.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with it in what will be its first European export market.”?Marblehead is currently the agent for Z?ubrówka vodka and the Lillet aperitif. Many brands which have gone on to big-?ger things passed through Marblehead’s doors in their early days, including Absolut and Wyborowa vodkas, and Maker’s Mark Bourbon.

Proximo export director Bryan Fox said: “Marblehead’s track record clearly speaks for itself.

“Its depth of knowledge and company culture makes us confident that it is the right partner to take our brands into the UK.”
