Tyrrells joins the crinkly masses

Premium crisp brand Tyrrells is the

atest to launch a crinkle version of its product.

Tyrrells Furrows follows hot on the heels of Kettle Ridge crisps, launched in September.

The Tyrrells range comprises Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Vinegar and Mature Cheddar & Pickled Onion.

All are available in 40g snack-sized packs and 150g sharing bags, with rrps at 70p and £1.70 respectively.

Waitrose is listing the new product nationally and it will also be made available to the independent trade.

The crisps are made from potatoes grown within a 40km radius of Tyrrells’ Herefordshire base, using Lady Rosetta and Lady Claire potatoes, chosen for their “excellent chipping qualities”, the company said.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
