Mondavi launches Napa Cabernets

26 November, 2010

The former boss of the Robert Mondavi wine business has launched his new range of Napa Cabernets in the UK through Bibendum.

Michael Mondavi was chief executive of Robert Mondavi when it was sold to Constellation in 2004.

After the sale, he set out to go back to the family’s roots in creating small quantities of artisanal Napa Valley wines.

Bibendum will be importing three of Mondavi’s new wines: Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (rrp £26); Emblem Oso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (rrp £42); and M by Michael Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (rrp £199).

Bibendum buyer Tim Marson MW said: “Michael and his son Rob have consciously returned to the more refined, elegant style of Napa Cabernet that Michael’s father made famous back in the early days of the Robert Mondavi winery.

“M by Michael Mondavi already rivals some of the very best in the region and it will be fascinating to watch how this wine establishes itself as the new benchmark for top-end Napa Cabernet.”?Mondavi added: “Our wines have always enjoyed an outstanding reputation in Britain with many long-standing consumers and trade accounts.”
