Fever-Tree’s tonic for vodka

26 November, 2010

A tonic designed specially to go with vodka has been produced by premium mixer brand Fever-Tree.

Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water will be sold exclusively by Waitrose in the off-trade for six months, but will get a full on-trade launch from January.

Fever-Tree managing director Tim Warrillow said: “Over the years, premium vodkas have become an important part of the sophisticated drinkers’ repertoire but it has not been easy to find a premium mixer to stand tall alongside their smooth and refined tastes.”?The new tonic is made with quinine from what is claimed to be the last remaining plantation of fever trees, in Congo.

It also uses lemon thyme and rosemary sourced by an octogenarian plant hunter in Provence.

The company claims Fever-Tree’s smaller Champagne-style bubbles help drinks retain their fizz for longer than normal tonics.

The new brand is being sold by Waitrose at £2.99 for a four-pack of 20cl bottles.
