Limited edition Glendronachs

Glendronach has released its third batch of limited edition, single-cask bottlings.

The line-up includes a 1989 20 Year Old and two 1990 20 Year Old aged Pedro Ximenez sherry puncheons.

There are also 18 Year Old 1991 and 14 Year Old 1996 whiskies aged in oloroso sherry butts.

The bottles are individually numbered by hand and presented in a gift box.

Quantities range from 202 bottles of the 1996 oloroso to 3,833 bottles of the 1989 Pedro Ximenez.

Marketing manager Kerry White said: “Our limited edition expressions have been very successful in the past and we are confident this latest batch will give huge pleasure to our customers.”

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
