Magners is ninth Portman member

Magners GB, a division of C&C Group, has signed up to be the latest member of drinks industry watchdog the Portman Group.

C&C is the Ireland and UK-based manufacturer, marketer and distributor of brands including Magners cider, Gaymers cider, Blackthorn cider and Tennent’s lager.

Magners GB joins eight other member companies who, according to the Portman Group, are responsible for the majority of brands sold in the UK.

Gordon Johncox, managing director of Magners GB, said: “As a leading manufacturer of alcoholic drinks it is important to ensure we are responsible in everything we do and show leadership on best practice in the area of alcohol social responsibility.

“Responsible drinking is a key objective for the drinks trade and we recognise that more still needs to be done to educate consumers.
