Ian Macleod Distillers is giving away vouchers worth £1 off bottles of Isle of Skye blended Scotch as part of a racing sponsorship.

The vouchers will be given away to racegoers at Musselburgh on January 14, and were also distributed at the New Year’s Day meeting.

There will also be a chance to win a VIP day out at Musselburgh in February, including accommodation in Edinburgh city centre.

The winner will also receive a limited edition porcelain decanter of Isle of Skye’s 21 Year Old blend, valued at more than £200.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
