Kent shops have licences suspended

21 January, 2011

A Spar and a Costcutter in Margate, Kent, have had their licences suspended for 21 days by Thanet District Council.

A range of conditions was also imposed by the licensing sub-committee, which acted on the grounds of prevention of crime and disorder, public safety and protection of children from harm.

Committee members also expressed concerns over the authenticity of both stores’ refusals books and non-payment of excise duty.

Four independents had licences revoked for a range of similar offences, while two others were given 21-day suspensions and three had 14-day licence removals.
