Crabbie’s sponsors awards broadcast

Crabbie’s alcoholic ginger beer is to be the broadcast sponsor of the National Television Awards on ITV on January 26.

Brand owner Halewood International said sales of the product had increased dramatically after it sponsored last year’s screening of the event.

This year’s awards are expected to be seen by seven million viewers.

“The sponsorship provides an excellent opportunity for Crabbie’s to be involved with an event that engages with the great British public and fits well with the overall theme for our brand,” said senior brand manager Al Cross.

“With new Crabbie’s products launched in 2010 and more planned for this year, we are committed to providing significant investment in the brand and in continuing to build momentum and growth throughout 2011.”

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
