Westwood style for limited run Chivas

Pernod Ricard’s Chivas Regal whisky brand has linked up with Vivienne Westwood for a limited edition of its 18 Year Old expression.?The whisky was released to coincide with the recent London Fashion Week and the designer’s autumn/winter

2011 show.?Only 2,500 bottles are being produced and a limited number are going into the UK market.?Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Harrods are all stocking it, with an rrp of £400.?The design features a Union Jack print and a three-piece coat.?“It is really very satisfying to interpret some of my designs in other mediums beyond fashion,” Westwood said.

l Pernod Ricard has posted 7% organic sales growth in the six months to December 31.?Sales in Europe were up 2%, a recovery from a 5% decline in the whole of 2009/10, and growth in western Europe was described as moderate.

The rise was achieved with help from a 4% increase in advertising and promotional spend.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
