Record marketing spend for Gaymer

09 February, 2007

The Gaymer Cider Company is to plough over 26 million into marketing this year - its biggest ever marketing investment.

The company would not say exactly what the money would be spent on, but said it would be focused on Gaymers Original, as well as being used to promote Blackthorn, Olde English, Addlestones and Gaymer s Orchard Reserve.

Managing director John Mills said: "We are announcing a record marketing spend as we look to build and extend on the investment and success we have seen in the past few years.

"With the cider category continuing to set the pace in the drinks market, and as a leading player, we intend to keep cider front of mind with retailers and consumers.

"It is all about product quality being communicated in an appealing way so that more consumers want to enjoy cider on a greater number of occasions. That is why a strong, diverse portfolio is exactly what the category needs."

The Gaymer Cider Company launched a range of premium bottled ciders in March 2006 - Gaymers Original, designed to be drunk over ice, cloudy pub favourite Addlestones, and Gaymers Orchard Reserve, which is designed to be drunk as an alternative to wine.

The campaign name There’s A Beer For That may have got cynics like me trying to think of things there wasn’t a beer for, but broadly speaking it was a force for good.
