Beef biltong says Bullox to crisps

23 February, 2007

Beef biltong brand Bullox has been launched in the UK.

Made by South African manufacturers using British and Irish beef, Bullox is distributed by The Jerky Group. It contains less than 6 per cent fat, compared with the 35 per cent fat level of standard crisps, said the company.

Founder James Newitt said: "We believe there is a greater awareness of biltong than there is of jerky here in the UK, especially with the recent influx of young South Africans and the draw South Africa has as a travel destination."

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle ľ which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
