Waitrose wine team starring in TV ad

Five Waitrose wine buyers turned TV stars for the company's latest ad campaign.

Masters of Wine Justin Howard-Sneyd, Dee Blackstock, Julian Brind, Becky Hull and Susan McCraith joined 180 Waitrose wine specialists in South Africa to film the 30-second TV ad.

Wine buying manager Howard-Sneyd said: "Waitrose wine expertise is present at every level of the supply chain - from choosing the wine in the vineyard to selling in our branches. Customers can now see for themselves how passionate we are about the wines we source and sell."

Waitrose will run a French wine promotion from April 10 until May 7.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
