New faces from France released

23 March, 2007

This year's France Under One Roof tasting saw a bevy of brand launches and extensions from top suppliers.

Bottle Green launched premium Rhône brand Palais des Anciens. The range has been developed in partnership with Rhône-based Vignobles de Peloux and initially comprises five wines, priced from £5.99 to £14.99.

Bottle Green marketing manager Liam Grand said: "The Rhône's current performance in the UK suggests consumers are returning to provenance-based products. Palais des Anciens provides the consumer with premium wine quality and traditional packaging that communicates a real feel of history and heritage."

Guy Anderson Wines introduced Loire brand Maison des Princes , in partnership with Loire negoçiant and grower Maison Donatien Bahuaud. The range is made up of six wines priced between £4.99 and £9.99 - Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, Vouvray, San cerre Blanc, Pouilly Fumé, Touraine Sauvignon and Cabernet Rosé VdP du Val de Loire.

The range has been designed to celebrate the "very best of the Loire appellations, its traditions and the racy elegance that make it such a distinctive and popular region", said GAW.

Stratford's Wine Agencies launched four additions to Jean-Claude Mas's Arrogant Frog range. The Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Rosé Ribet Pink 2006 and a pair of organic wines - Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah - take the mid-priced range up to seven in total.

Castel launched its Cachet brand, sourced from the South of France, to the UK trade.
