Walkers bags carbon footprint 'first'

Walkers Crisps is claiming to be the first mass-marketed food brand to feature a carbon logo on the front of its packs.

In an effort to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, Walkers will add the logo to packs of Cheese & Onion from mid-April.

A spokesman from the Carbon Trust said: "In order to qualify for a Carbon Trust label, companies need to show their commitment to managing and reducing their carbon emissions before completing a rigorous carbon analysis of their product supply chain."
