Castel takes on French buying

06 April, 2007

Castel is to take responsibility for the sourcing of all Oddbins' French wines from 2008.

The decision, made by Pierre Castel, will still allow Oddbins buyers the freedom to select whatever French wines they want, according to the chain's head office.

But once they have chosen the m, the purchasing will b e organised by Castel in France. "The decision on what goes into the range stays with the buyer here," said a spokeswoman.

There have been rumours that Oddbins buyers would take control of Castel's limited New World wine sourcing but the spokeswoman said there has been "no decision" on this.
