Research company Wine Intelligence has appointed former Somerfield buyer Angela Mount as associate director for the off-trade.

Mount, who will join the company on April 20, "will bring her considerable market knowledge and wine assessment expertise to Wine Intelligence".

The company says Mount will advise leading global wine businesses about product development and trading strategy and she will also contribute to WI's published research.

Mount said: "My focus and strength as a buyer has always been my ability to understand and interpret consumer trends and needs, and to translate these into clear messages on shelf.

WI chief executive Lulie Halstead said: "Angela is that rare combination of a formidable businesswoman and a visionary when it comes to understanding consumer needs and desires."
