June date for Drinksummit

Off Licence News editor Graham Holter will be among the speakers at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors' annual event this year. Drinksummit, aimed at drinks wholesalers and suppliers, will take place at the Oxford Belfry on June 4 and 5. This year's theme is driving off-licence value, and other speakers include John Mills of Gaymer Cider Company, Peter Reynolds of Nielsen and Ross Shelley of Take Home Blueprint. Promo kits for indies week

T-shirts and in-store promotional kits to support National Independents' Week are now available. The bright yellow T-shirts feature product shots of the brands supporting the campaign, which include Bulmers, Foster's Twist, Guinness, Rosemount Wines, Nobby's Nuts and Sensations. Benevolent holds charity event

Drinks trade charity The Benevolent is calling all those brave enough to don some Lycra to take part in the Cotswold Sprint Triathlon on Sept 9. Individuals or teams from the drinks industry can compete against each other in a 750-metre swim, followed by a 20km ride and a 5km run at the Keynes Country Park near Cirencester. There will be prizes for winners of each event . The minimum charity donation for teams of three is £1,000, and £350 for individuals taking part. Places are limited and entries are on a first come, first serve basis. E-mail for details.

Jennings' great outdoors prizes

Cumbria brewer Jennings has joined forces with The North Face and outdoor store George Fisher to launch an on-pack promotion to give away vouchers worth £50 of outdoor clothing and equipment. Running on packs of Jennings' new four packs - which contain two bottles of Cumberland Ale, one bottle of Sneck Lifter and one bottle of Cocker Hoop beer - a unique code will show drinkers if they're one of the lucky 100 winners. Chilean wine producer Luis Felipe Edwards has appointed a new winemaking team for the 2007 vintage. Christian Rojas will take on the role of chief winemaker, and Sofia Araya joins as assistant winemaker. Rojas was previously chief winemaker at the Echeverria Winery in Chile, and Araya has moved from Casa Lapostolle.

Budgens franchisees are working with online business to source local products. The company, which has been working with Londis for some time, helps independents get in touch with local suppliers of everything from cakes to dry cleaning and from fireworks to dairy.
